Tom knows that for us to be healthy, we need a healthy environment.
Tom recently joined his colleagues in Albany to pass New York’s Environmental Bill of Rights to codify the right to clean air and water in the state Constitution, and enact new laws to Ban Offshore Drilling, Reduce Diesel Emissions, Ban Single-Use Plastic Bags, and set Strong Climate Goals for 2030.
Cleaning Up our Air & Water
Tom has long worked to protect our air and water and insure sustainable land use and energy policies.
Tom introduced the NYS Drinking Water Bill of Rights and a bill to empower the Resources Planning Council to ensure safe, affordable drinking water for all.
Tom fought the New York State Thruway Authority’s attempt to divert $511 million from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund.
Tom proposed a statewide restriction on motor vehicle idling and has long been an outspoken critic of “fracking” in the state.
Tom was given a 100% Environmental Rating by the NEW YORK LEAGUE OF CONSERVATION VOTERS.
